Job Summary
The Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District (the “District”) manages groundwater resources across Bosque, Comanche, Coryell, and Erath Counties, ensuring sustainable use and conservation for future generations. Funded through an ad valorem tax, the District provides effective stewardship of local groundwater resources. More information is available at www.middletrinitygcd.org.
The Education Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements educational programs that promote water conservation, groundwater awareness, and natural resource stewardship. Responsibilities include managing educational outreach, supporting the District’s education center, the Ditch Water Discovery Center, and maintaining the native plant landscaping initiative. This role engages with schools, community groups, and the public to enhance groundwater awareness.
The District provides training to ensure the selected candidate has the necessary skills for success. This position reports to the General Manager and may require occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
Essential Job Functions
Education and Outreach Functions
• Develop and implement educational programs and presentations for schools, community groups, and the public.
• Manage and support the District's Education Center and the Ditch Water Discovery Center, ensuring effective programming and engagement.
• Maintain and enhance the District’s native plant landscaping initiative as an educational resource.
• Organize and lead workshops, field trips, and events focused on groundwater conservation and water sustainability.
• Create outreach materials, including brochures, social media content, and website updates, to promote District programs and initiatives.
• Foster partnerships with local schools, universities, and organizations to expand educational opportunities.
• Represent the District at fairs, community events, and conferences to promote groundwater conservation awareness.
• Develop and distribute educational resources for teachers and students. Administrative Functions
• Assist in the coordination of public meetings, including preparing materials and supporting logistics.
• Manage and respond to educational inquiries from the public and stakeholders.
• Oversee program budgets and track expenditures related to educational initiatives.
• Maintain detailed records of outreach activities and report on program effectiveness.
• Coordinate volunteer and internship opportunities to support educational initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
• Demonstrated commitment to environmental education, natural resource management, or conservation.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of groundwater science, hydrology, or related environmental topics.
• Experience in developing and implementing educational programs.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual meeting platforms like Zoom.
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel for data organization and analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with schools, community organizations, and the public.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, education, communications, or a related field.
• Experience with ArcGIS, mapping, and data visualization.
• Experience with curriculum development and instructional design for environmental education.
• A demonstrated passion for advancing the mission and goals of the District.
