David Maslanka’s epic “Symphony No. 4” will be featured in Tarleton State University’s Wind Ensemble concert. Written in 1993, the 30-minute piece is intended by the composer to be a “spontaneous rise of the impulse to shout for the joy of life.”
The concert will also highlight the winner of the 2024 Concerto Competition, Marco Hernandez-Leal, on Alexander Arutiunian’s “Concerto for Trumpet.” Marco is a senior music performance major from Hurst and a student of Dr. Brian Walker.
Other selections include “Clutch.” by Andrew David Perkins and “Toccata Marziale” by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
