The Tarleton State University Police Department is offering a self-defense course designed specifically for women. The instructors, Sgt. Amanda Miller and Officer Doug Johnson, will emphasize education and awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance.
The 12-hour course, divided into four sessions, is open to students, faculty, staff and the public. Sessions are from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 11, 13, 18 and 20 in the Wisdom Gym lobby on the Stephenville campus. The course is dedicated to teaching concepts and techniques against various types of assault by using easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics.
