The Stephenville Historical House Museum has announced that the Oxford House Soup Supper will be held February 22, 2023, as a drive-through event on the grounds of the Museum, located at 525 E. Washington, a few blocks from the downtown square.
Potato soup with sides and dessert will be served as take-out from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The event benefits the renovation of the Oxford House, a historic home on the Museum grounds.
Donated to the Museum in 2010 the Oxford House is a Queen Anne style, three-story home built in 1898. Exterior restoration and renovations have been completed, and plans are underway for the renovation and use of the spacious interior of the home. The house was originally located on Graham Street and was moved the Museum to be preserved as an architectural connection to the history of Stephenville.
“The Oxford House is certainly unique for our community, and many have offered significant time and resources to preserve it. Now it is time to move this effort to the next stage,” stated Dr. Eric Morrow, 2023 Museum Board President and Dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts at Tarleton State. “Discussions are underway to determine the future use of the Oxford House, so that in addition to preservation, the House is a benefit and destination for the community, the region and beyond. Plans will be announced in the months ahead as the Museum Board and community partners move forward,” added Dr. Morrow.

The requested donation is $10 per ticket, with all proceeds going to the Oxford House project. Donations are also accepted for the Oxford House and for the Museum by mail at 525 E. Washington, Stephenville, Texas, 76401.
Directions for meal pick up: Enter from Washington St. onto Shapard St., (between the Oxford House and the Star Storage building), to the back gate going into the museum and around the north side of the Center Grove School. Ticket takers will deliver meals to the vehicle. After picking up meals, drivers will exit from the museum’s main entrance onto Washington Street.
